From Futuristic to Everyday: Why AI is Becoming Business as Usual
Not that long ago, AI in business felt like a buzzword reserved for big corporates with even bigger budgets. But the reality is slowly changing!
CreditorWatch’s latest Annual Business Sentiment Survey (September 2025) found that around 49% of sole traders around 40% of small and medium-sized businesses haven’t embraced newer technologies like AI in the past 12 months.
Even so, I’ve seen firsthand that small and medium business have started finding ways to use AI without breaking the bank account. Some are just getting started, using AI to tidy up emails or summarise reports. Others have integrated it deeply, automating follow-ups, generating content, or surfacing insights from data.
And the next 12 months don’t need to look the same as the last. The good news is that adopting AI doesn’t have to be a BIG BANG.
For most businesses, the best approach is gradual by exploring what works, identifying the right solutions, and building confidence before diving in.
According to the same survey, the two most common uses of AI are content creation and editing (46%) and data insights and analytics (37), both achievable with accessible tools ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot, with the right setup.
As businesses, we’re past the stage of asking “Should we try AI?”
Now it’s about “How can we use it well?”
That means:
Start small — look at one clunky task and explore an AI-based fix.
Upskill your team— give them the confidence to experiment safely.
Set healthy boundaries — know what AI should (and shouldn’t) do.
Track the wins — even small improvements are worth celebrating.
The goal isn’t to adopt fast. It’s to adopt purposefully.
So, if you’re a business leader still figuring out where to begin, take the pressure off.
Start with one step. One small win.
Because when used thoughtfully, it helps your team focus on what really matters: solving problems, building relationships, and driving meaningful progress.
